Donate to South Whidbey at Home
South Whidbey at Home is a membership-based nonprofit dedicated to helping older South Whidbey residents remain in their homes and active in the community they love! The reality of living in a rural community means we rely on interdependence to make life work. We provide access to a variety of volunteer assistance, empowering educational opportunities, and social activities for members and volunteers. Over 70% of our funding comes from grants and donations.
“As a volunteer I can say without doubt that my Mom was right: The gift is to the giver. My interactions with Members of SW@Home have been heartwarming and interesting. I think we miss the richness of the many lives lived by some of our most isolated seniors if we don't interact. It's all to easy to become invisible, and a simple conversation lifts the veil and shows us our common humanity.”

Be Part of a Caring Community
Every gift you give makes a real difference for our members and the South Whidbey Community as a whole. As a donor, you become part of a caring community committed to helping seniors age in place in the homes and community they love – neighbors helping neighbors. Over 70% of our funding comes from donations and grants from other organizations and from people like you. Our Village is part of a web of local resources for seniors and their families. We work closely with a number of other important senior service organizations to create as many aging support solutions as possible.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation registered in the state of Washington. All contributions are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
Become part of our Donor’s Circle by donating at least $1000, all at once or over time! Donor’s Circle Members receive invitations to meet and network with other donors and the South Whidbey at Home Board of Directors a few times per year, as well as special recognition on our website.

Donor FAQs
What is a Donor Advised Fund (DAF)?
A donor-advised fund, or DAF, is a giving account you establish at a public charity to simplify your giving, streamline your record-keeping, and be tax-wise by contributing to your charities of choice. South Whidbey at Home often accepts donations through Donor Advised Funds. You put money or assets into the account and take an immediate tax deduction and then the funds sit and grow tax free while you decide which non profits to support with them. If you’re interested in exploring what a DAF makes possible, we recommend consulting your financial advisor or exploring the resources available from Whidbey Community Foundation.
What is a required minimum distribution?
RMDs are the minimum amount you must withdraw from your retirement account(s) to satisfy federal tax rules. The IRS requires you to begin taking RMDs from your IRAs and employer retirement plan accounts by your required start date, whether you need the money or not. You must take RMDs annually from all your tax-deferred retirement accounts, including employer-sponsored plans like 403(b)s, 457(b)s and 401(k)s, as well as IRAs and Keoghs. If you have to take an RMD from one of your investments, you can donate it directly to us or another 501 (c) (3) charitable organization and avoid paying taxes on it.
What is Employer Matching?
Many large employers will match donations that employees (even retired employees) make to 501c3 organizations. In the Seattle area, Boeing, Microsoft, and many others.
What is Planned Giving?
Think of Planned Giving as leaving a gift for a cause you care about in your will or estate plan. Instead of writing a check now, you can name charitable organizations, such as South Whidbey at Home, as beneficiaries of your will, life insurance policy, or trust.
